Gifts for Animals
Did you know that Zoo New England has an Amazon Wish List? I found out a few weeks before my 9th birthday, so I asked my friends and family to buy gifts for the animals instead of buying presents for me. I also posted the request on my website, and my Facebook author page. Then I used some gift cards I had gotten for Christmas to pick out a few special gifts for some of the animals at the Stone Zoo, like an extra-large parrot toy for Chumley, the blue macaw, and lavender for the big cats to roll around in. It was fun getting to shop for the animals! I am so grateful to everyone who sent gifts. It was the best birthday! I collected a total of 109 items worth $1,025.95 for the animals!
My birthday is over, but the animals still need donations. If you want to buy something for them, check out the Zoo's Amazon Wish List. There are plenty of items under $10 that the animals would love! If you work at a school or library, or you volunteer with a youth group, please consider holding your own collection event. I bet a lot of kids would love to go shopping for the animals.
